Autopsy Photo – Insides of the Skull with Brain Removed
Ever wondered what the insides of the skull looks like when the brain is removed? Well, the ages old question is answered in the autopsy photo above. I know you would naturally expect there to be a hole for the spine, but it’s not until you see a photo taken from this viewpoint when you realize that the hole looks like washroom drain. This is the type of view all of us who don’t work as morticians are deprived of.
From the condition of her skin, I’m judging the victim is a woman in her 30’s. I don’t know any more details regarding her death – why she’s dead, what killed her, where it took place, etc. If anyone knows please share. So far the best autopsy photo I’ve seen. Mot other photos are taken from other angles, never really exposing the insides of the skull in such clear way. They sure cut them up well during autopsy, eh?

Fascinating. I agree. I wouldn’t have ever thought the spine would look like that. It’s hard to imagine the day will come where that will be me, laying there. And…is that all there is of me? Am I just a body, or is there something more. When I say “me,” who am I referring to?

If I decide to donate my body to science/art, I’m not going to put into consideration the treatment of my body. I’m dead, so…I don’t think I’ll care.
Ridiculous to say, but I always think about me being dead on that slab because I have a very big phobia of being seen naked. I’ll be dead. It won’t matter, but I’m still terrified of it anyway.
I personally don’t like the way that peoples remains are handled after their death. I’m no stranger to death and bodies as I’m a hunter and I’ve been in battles where death is omnipresent but the callous disrespect that coroner personnel exhibit to dead bodies in their care and supervision makes me mad.

Order or pick up at a library: The Whole Death Catalog: A Lively Guide to the Bitter End (Paperback) # ISBN-10: 0345499646 and # ISBN-13: 978-0345499646. Somewhere around the middle it explains that autopsy are no required in most states and cases unless you take a body out of state for burial or there were an unexplained reason for death, suspect of murder, etc. Also in there it explains that embalming is not required by the state, it was only done in the old days before refrigeration. And it goes on to say that basically it is a rip-off by the undertakers/funeral homes to get extra cash out of you or our of the family. The whole deal is a big fucken rip-off! Put me in a god dam pine or carboard box and bury me out in the pasture. AKA Green funeral.

I’m impressed. That was either a really clean grab, or the coroner spent some time picking out all the little pieces.
