Corpse of a man with head almost completely severed was found on January 31, 2013 in a ditch in rural Caruaru, near the town of Bonito in Pernambuco, Brazil. The victim was identified as 36 year old José Ferreira da Silva who lived in the nearby community. He has not had any previous brushes with the law so the motive and who killed him are unknown.
Looks to me like he took a blow from a machete to the back of his neck. Probably a single blow, but it doesn’t take much to decapitate a man with a machete.

Why are there so many Da Silva’s in Brazil ? Other than for sport killing i can’t think of any reason for all the Da Silva’s.

There is a history behind the use of da silva. Many Portuguese immigrants to Brazil during the 1800`s changed their name to run from old reputations in Portugual,mabey they where criminals and broken some laws so the use of da silva kind of made them more ambiguous.

Apart from the description which seems reasonable, he seems to have been a worker or a person that spends a lot of time outside, considering the scars on his back in picture 7, also the stab wound seems to have been made post-mortem, considering the lack of blood around it. The odd thing are the pants dropped, considering he was wearing a belt, i have to say he either suffered a violent impact with a vehicle or he was dragged torso first. The second theory seems more reasonable considering the low amount of blood on the ground (there should be a lot more blood if he was indeed killed there), as seen on pictures 4 and 6.
