Free, unhampered transmissions of thought, including criticism of government, administrations and institutions are imperative to the advance of the world toward true freedom and spiritual well being of man-kind. To ensure that we can enjoy both in perpetuity, authorities must be stopped from inhibiting and preventing the critical voice’s under the guise of protecting the community.
While Mark Marek faces “corrupting morals” charges, he and his legal team set out on a uneasy path of challenging the constitutionality of Section 163. With any luck, it is his intention to prevent this broadly defined section of law from being used against other advocates of freedom.
As an independent and uninhabited media, Best Gore has the goal to communicate uncensored information to citizens. We are asking for your help to fund the legal battle which is about more than just one website. It is about the free flow of information to the public. It is about you choosing where you get your information from, instead of the government making the choice for you.
Civil right to freedom of expression is not only important, but also necessary for the preservation of other human rights, such as prevention of torture or other inhuman treatment – both of which best Gore helped to expose when they occurred. If freedom of expression is suppressed, the ability to identify other human right violations is eroded. The hallmark of a democratic society is a great deal of freedom of expression. Suppression of expression, ideas and concerns, on the other hand, is a hallmark of a tyrannical or repressive government.
During most of human history, freedom of expression, as a fundamental human right was curtailed by dictatorships and authoritarian institutions. Only petty dictators and their enforcers still suppress freedom of expression today. We want to make sure that, after Mark Marek’s harassment and imprisonment, there will be no more journalists, publishers, bloggers or artists subjected to the same form of treatment. Today it is Mark Marek, tomorrow it could be you. Help us fight the cause by donating.
If you are an organization that has a mandate to protect freedom of expression, as well as businesses or individuals who are willing to have their name forever associated with the defense of fundamental freedoms and are willing to make a more substantial donation, please consider sending a cheque or money order as online donations are subject to high transaction costs. Please send a email, so we can reply with instructions on how to proceed (vasilykirov187 [at] mail.ru).
We are hoping to have an internet based fundraiser set up soon.
