This is the most disturbing bone dislocation I have ever seen I can’t imagine the pain. This picture was taken in the ER room in the town of Fundacion in Colombia. The guy was drunk driving his motorcycle and got in a crash with a car.

Who knows what happened to him, considering that in Fundacion (like most of the country) you have to pay BEFORE you get treatment. His family may not have been able to afford more than complete amputation.

I have to disagree on one of the posts. The knee is a very very unstable joint. He may never walk without clutches again. It was better for him to have broken the femur and have knee intact. You can do a search, a torn single ligament, which happens in a number of athletes, leaves the knee unstable. Imagine if all four ligaments detached, along with a number of tendons.
What he was getting at is that a broken femur results in exsanguination: bleeding out. You bleed to death, just like breaking a hip. Because it was a compound dislocation instead, yes he will lost the leg. DUH. But he won’t lose his life.
