In the city of Chhatrapur, Ganjam district, Odisha state, India, the Councillor for Ward-6 by the name of Laxmidutta Pradhan, who was also a local leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party, was hacked to death by a group of assailants armed with swords, machetes and stick.
The incident happened in front of the Councillor’s house and was caught on the house’s CCTV cameras. Mr. Pradhan’s brother attempted to interfere with the assault, but only made it worse. His involvement made the attackers return after they were already leaving and deliver more blows to the Councillor, and also struck the brother a few times, amputating his arm and leaving him in critical condition.
