This was the case of your typical motorcycle drive-by assassination as happen in Brazil on a daily basis – two gunmen on a motorcycle quickly rode up to the victim, riddled him with bullets and took off just as quickly as they came.
It happened on the afternoon of Tuesday March 12, 2013 on Umbelino Correia de Araújo in Ibirataia, state of Bahia, Brazil. Victim was identified as 19 year old José Aragão Neto. He had previous brushes with the law, having been charged with assault and attempted murder. He was hit with six bullets and died on the scene, oozing brightly red, thick blood on the road.
Police responded to the shooting quickly and tried to catch the shooters on all possible escape routes but with no success. In a country where two people on a motorcycle are a common sight, it is easy to blend in.
