Acapulco, world’s execution central. How I missed thee.
Three young men who had been kidnapped by armed men were found gunned down in a landfill near Río de La Sabana in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. Two of the victims died at the scene but one showed vital signs when authorities arrived and was taken to a hospital in Ciudad Renacimiento where he later died as well.
Authorities were alerted by residents who overheard the gunfire coming from the landfill area. That allowed them to get on the scene within minutes from execution but by that time, the gunmen had already left without a trace.
The victims were males aged 18 to 25. They were shot in the head with a .45 caliber handgun – authorities recovered casings from the scene.
An unofficial version of why they were killed has it that the victims were the collectors of protection money (racketeers) so rivals who wanted the racket for themselves kidnapped and killed them.
