Umm, no. Wage gap exists when you compare apples to apples. When two people of different genders do the same work, for the same amount of time, but one gets paid more solely because of their gender.

Wage gap is not about choosing to do one type of work whereas the other group chooses another. Of course different professions will have different wages. My point is about being in the same profession, but getting paid less solely because one is a man.

There is no profession in which a woman would get paid less than a man if she does the same type of work over the same period of time (ie, if a man pulls overtimes because of high workload, but the woman chooses to chill at home instead, and the man gets paid extra for those extra hours he pulled through, that’s not wage gape, that’s working longer hours than the other). But there are many professions in which a man would get paid less than a woman if she does the same type of work over the same period of time.
