As many first world countries develop and increasingly rely on service industry for output and employment, many believe that this is the rightful step as consumerism is just another development of free markets. The greater the quantity of services produced the theoretical greater output and the transferring of funds between different people. However one should take into account that the service industry although if it is market efficient does not mean it is logically practical. Service industry rely on a high amount of psychological, non tangible benefit perceived, their implications cause a situation where non essential output is in high demand. Another fault is that service rely on physical and emotional output, which due to its nature is not efficient. This irony can be seen in many examples like Hair stylist or tutors. You can work and smile as a waitress in a restaurant, there won’t be a robot that takes your place.
