There is nothing wrong with generalizing. Generalizations are probability statements and the entire point of induction. That the sun will rise tomorrow is a generalization of the instances in which it has done so in the past. Likewise, collective MGTOW experience of women is anything but anecdotal or incidental, offering generalizations that have that much more validity of application then any individual’s experience can have. All of useful human knowledge (outside of mathematics which is deductive) is formed through induction and generalizations, from learning not to put your hand in a fire to the entirety of science.

Generalizations that are dangerous are the ones that are untrue, or there is very little empirical evidence to support a generalization, such as – “men are rapists” or “blacks are criminals”. I argue that it is far more dangerous not to generalize when there is overwhelming evidence for it, and when the potential consequence for being politically correct and not offending someone’s feelings causes far more harm then if the generalization was prominent in a person’s mind. We do not worry about generalizing “bears are dangerous”, yet we worry about “women are dangerous”, even through its far more likely that a woman will destroy you then a bear will. “Women are entitled, hypergamous, narcissistic princesses” – is this, or is this not largely true in your experience? How about in experience of most men? We all know it, but never had the balls to look at ourselves and them honestly because “oh no, you must not generalize, not all women are like that”. If anything, confirmation bias is working against generalizations about women, we are so very eager to idealize that one woman who “seriously, really, isn’t like that” and carry her off into the sunset.

Possibly the most consistent argument one is faced with when discussing politically incorrect subjects is the knee-jerkingly reflexive, “You can’t generalize like that!” This is usually followed with an anecdote about someone’s friend’s cousin who lives next door to a lady located in a neighbouring town – ten years ago. The purpose of telling this story is that it “obviously proves” the politically incorrect premise is wrong. It is the trick of personalizing an individual characteristic over a group characteristic – which, by the way, indicates the person giving the annectdote has already lost the plot and is not arguing in good faith.

Any logical person will soon realize that when discussing macro-issues in regard to society and its trends, not only can you generalize but in fact you must generalize. To fail to generalize is to demand all things must only be regarded one-dimensionally and in terms of the lowest common denominator. A more complex and proper way of thinking is that “there are individual groups and there are individuals within those groups.”

For example, saying something like “women have larger breasts than men” is a sweeping generalization. But it’s a true one – even though some women have smaller breasts than some men. In the collective group of “women” there will be some individual women who have small breasts, while in the collective group of “men” there will be some porky men sporting a set of man-boobs. But only a simpleton would try to cherry pick a flat chested woman and stand her next to a
man-boobed male and claim that this is in any way an honest reflection of the physical nature of man and woman, therefore, we should not say that “women have larger breasts than men” anymore. It would be lunacy! The only thing we might be able to learn then is that “both men and women have nipples.”

Wow! Stop everything right there! The Tower of Babel is already reaching into the heavens! What more could we possibly learn?

Generalizations are absolutely necessary in order to learn anything about macro-issues and societal trends.

Of course, what a person cannot do is take one individual and generalize that the entire group resembles that individual. Take Marc Lepine, for example. Feminists have been screeching for over twenty-five years now that Marc Lepine is “proof” of the murderous hatred men harbour for women. Now that is pure bunk. The actions of one man is in no way a reflection of the mentality of the 15,000,000 other men who live in Canada. That is a wrong generalization.

But, to say that men are taller or heavier than women? Yes, this is a proper generalization, because the majority of men are taller and heavier than the majority of women – even though in some individual cases, you will be able to see a taller or heavier woman than a man.

We generalize that “birds fly.” But oh my gosh! You can’t generalize like that! Don’t you know that Emus, Ostriches, Kiwis and Penguins don’t fly? This is such a lame argument and it ought to be obvious that any biologist worth his salt must necessarily generalize that “birds fly.” Look up, grasshopper… not down!

In fact, generalizing is very beneficial and is used quite successfully in many areas of society – such as when the insurance industry analyzes the average frequency of an event (ie. a housefire) in order to offer protection to the individual homeowner while still reliably turning a profit. The government generalizes as well when they pass such laws as speed limits with fines for punishment. It is fully understood that not all of the people will reduce their speed, but most of them will and therefore, it works to keep most people driving at a reasonable speed and makes the roads safer – which is the positive result that is being sought.

Another example is that if we can see that men politically vote 60/40 for principles extolling freedom versus those which promote socialism, while women tend to vote 30/70 on the same issues, then there is little doubt that over time the government will become less freedom oriented and much more mired in socialism – as has been explored by John Lott and Lawrence Kenny’s study titled, “Did Women’s Suffrage Change the Size and Scope of Government?”

Many of the arguments that get put forward in regard to sensitive issues (like the War of the Sexes) automatically get dismissed with the intellectually dishonest statement, “You can’t generalize like that.”

    Nonsense.

In fact, no-one is going to figure out anything if they fail to generalize. Ignoring the similar actions/traits/situations in 80% of the cases because 20% of the cases do not coincide… well… that is not going to help us at all in analyzing the world as it unfolds about us.

The thing to keep in mind is that there are individual groups (ie. men and women), and there are individuals within those groups.

The way to learn something is to recognize that the trait of the group follows in “this” direction, even though there are individual exceptions which follow “that” direction.

It’s time to stop looking for the lowest common denominator.

I like things to be a bit more specific and less general.

    You might as well say

    “Simplicity is quite simplistic.”

    “Mountains are high.”

    “Women are women.”

    “Men are men.”

    “Gays are gay.”

“Tigers, on the whole, are not leopards. Maybe that is too general.”

Generally speaking, speaking generally creates a kind of generality of speech.

    It kinda lacks specifics.

So, @llyounghitlerll what was it exactly you were wanting to say here? It all seems rather vague and general. Blah de blah. Did you actually have a point… or were you just wanting to see the shape of your own copy and pasting?

Let’s face it, he has a million copy and paste arguments, all ready to use at any given moment. He has nothing else but mgtow in his life, it IS his very essence, and all that he says, he truly believes. Good for him, give him a hand, he’s the most intelligent human alive. He’s never wrong, and he gives himself excuses for being the dink that he is. When he calls someone nasty names, that’s okay! He’s excused himself. What a reality he’s formed for himself. It’s laughable, and I do laugh at his comments…amazed that anyone could be so hypocritical. Same old shit…different day.

@icecreamlair “Also not to mention his closing speech “School is closed, duh!” That general smugness is over the top.”

School has been closed to @llyounghitlerll because he refuses to stop pissing and shitting himself and will not learn to read or write.

Please do remember that @llyounghitlerll says that no males should learn to read and write because “learning reading and writing is a gynocentric act” done purely to please nasty women. This explains the unintelligible gibberish which he so enthusiastically cuts and pastes for his own amusement and his rapidly dwindling sense of self-worth.

Remember also that males should also shite and piss their pants because toilet-training as a child (ie. learning to not piss and shite yourself) is a gynocentric act which is done purely to please nasty women. No mention of the rapid spread of Ecoli O 157 : H7 – which will quickly infect the tissue around the penis head, Urethra (Frankling) and the anus, it comes from shite and is usually safely contained in feaeces and the lower intestinal tract but @llyounghitlerll advocates that young males simply stay at home wallowing in soaking brown nappies full of their own piss and shit, lose their kidney function and die in agony. There’s going your own way for you.

Generalisations that are dangerous are the kinda crocks of shit that @llyounghitlerll advocates. “Piss and shit yourself everyone! Don’t learn to read and write!”
Doing anything else is “gynocentric” according to @llyounghitlerll. Or are these examples, some of those “generalisations” which are “dangerous and untrue” @llyounghitlerll ?

Because Ecoli O157 : H7 ain’t funny @llyounghitlerll and even llyounghitlerll must acknowledge that even a passing attempt at literacy is necessary – even to cut and paste as shabbily as he does.

Leave yunghitler alone. Generalizations have their place. “Most MGTOW are angry bitter men.” That doesn’t mean ALL but most are. And “Most rapists are male.” Is it okay to say these things? I suppose. Is it a dick move? Yeah. The point: people who are dicks like to generalize quite a bit. Or maybe that’s a generalization too.

Ha. You do have a sense of humor albeit passive/aggressive, but funny.
      Can I try?
Generally speaking, most men keep a rape kit in their pants.
Most building contractors construct rape dungeons in their clients homes without their knowledge. Ironically next to the safe room.
Most intelligent, independent women usually only exist within the liberal media.
The population of India generally smell bad. Wait, that’s actually true.
You’re right @itsplaster. This is fun. Generalizing is way easier than rational thinking.

Danaconda do you know the difference between rationalizations and justifications? Many people throw rationalization around and they have no clue that rationalizations are appeals to emotions and are EXCUSES. Justifications are based on intellect.

        But do dismiss……..

Also, scientists and law enforcement and many others use generalizations in their inductive work. Are you saying they should stop generalizing?
        Nonsense.

Generalizations… Media trash in my opinion. Different skin color smell different because of different sweat, like my family sweating high levels of triglyceride (sweet, but also pungent.). Those are of ‘generalizations’, in the media sense. The media sense says, “Be nice to women, Men are always perverts and against feminists, Men are guilty , women are sluts”. Media’s mean. Screw most media. BG can be family. We’re here for.gore. Why.not center around that?

As per the usual, please excuse any spelling errors. The period button is twice the size of.the other muffins and th e pace bar is half the damn screen. Plus this.autocorrect that rarely does it’s job right.
