Cars are not safe… because of roads and many different reasons, but human imprudence is by far the biggest responsible for deaths and accidents. I have no data but I believe BG may help prevent accidents by providing us gore that make us aware of the reality of a car crashes. Road safety commercial sometimes proves too much gore for the average Joe… But sometimes they are not just gruesome, they are fantastic. Please ad any road safety videos you like and wish to share, and feel free to comment.

For a start this is a collection of a few ads fit in a powerful song that always touch me heart, enjoy ๐Ÿ˜‰

The intention is indeed to shock people enough to remember. I’m glad you like it @thedre , a very good one indeed but the will be more… Trying to appeal to our senses, and they love to involve kids.

      Thanks for your reply MP…

I believe the government’s role, is to represent the people. In order to do this, first, the people have to decide what kind of world they want to live in. Will it be a world filled with war? Unaffordable health care/college? A planet that is quickly becoming unsustainable to live in?

Unfortunately, I live in a society today, that is reactive by nature. They react to a problem, without understanding how the problem started in the first place. Our government creates these problems and unfortunately, our corporate media promotes them. Our founding fathers never intended for our press to become corporate whores to profits, as opposed to representing and educating it’s people. All the information I receive regarding social issues, come from experts in the field. They don’t use their political affiliation to marginalize their viewers, but they do use the facts, to support their evidence at hand. And this has become the major problem with the so-called journalists today. We have no journalists in our media today. If we did, they would be challenging our government, as opposed to supporting their mischievous behavior. In other words, I try to surround myself with people much smarter than myself. People who are experts in a subject, and are not afraid to challenge the corporate powers who have a stranglehold on our lives today.

…but you won’t see them on our corporate television and obviously, there’s a reason for that

I wanted to point this out, because of your comment regarding cameras. Since you have brought up the issue of vehicle safety, cameras are fine, when placed on vehicles. I drive a vehicle that has a back up camera at work, and it provides a level of safety which I enjoy. As I’ve pointed out earlier, safety belts add a level of safety as well. Primarily for the driver and passengers in the vehicle. Ralph Nader pointed out in his book several decades ago, “Unsafe at any Speed,” the dangers of car manufacturers, and their inability to produce a vehicle safe enough for the public. Without going into detail, Mr. Nader finally introduces a bill through our corporate congress, for manufacturers to place seat belts in vehicles. Deaths have decreased dramatically.

Cameras on the other hand, when used to monitor the public, I have issues with. Yes, they can be used to record a crime, or an accident on the road. I understand this. However, I believe cameras are a reactive solution to a problem, and not a proactive one. In short, I believe an empowered people, capable of electing politicians driven by problem solving and not fear, would eliminate the need to be monitored in public all the time. Much of our social problems today, are caused by economical and environmental ones. We have more people today living in poverty, than ever before. Many are caused by austerity, and it’s use to fund wars and other programs, that don’t benefit it’s people. Climate change and wars, are also causing a mass migration of people, from one country to another. But you’ll never hear this from our corporate media.

I’ll leave it right there. But I wanted to raise this point first. It’s called “Cause and Effect.”

I have no problems with smartphones Masterplan, as I’ve stated before. However, it’s their abuse by the general public, that I have issues with. Personally, I don’t need to be carrying an internet connection with me, everywhere I go. And yes, smartphones can be a convenience. But when does one draw the line between convenience and abuse?

If one is using a smartphone while driving, does this make the vehicle unsafe? Only if the driver is distracted. And why are they distracted? Because they are texting/tweeting. Anything that causes their eyes to be taken off the road. A car traveling at 60 mph, travels at 88 ft/sec. A lot can happen, even at half that speed. But one has to ask themselves, is sending a text while driving convenient or important, in relationship to public safety? Perhaps one who was texting while driving and killing someone, would ask this same question? My answer is no!

…and when it comes to road safety

Yes, the conditions of the roads, play a part in road accidents. I’ll even go so far as to say, that road conditions outside of weather conditions, are the result of government neglect. Most, as a result of insufficient funding to keep them safe. Roads can cause a vehicle to be unsafe as well. Bad roads lead to mechanical damage to a vehicle. However, it’s the driver’s responsibility to maintain that vehicle, as well as making decisions to slow down when necessary. Just as it is, with making that decision to pick up that smartphone and text while driving.

I have no problems with guns. But I do sometimes, have a problem with the individual in the manner in which they use it. It’s all about personal responsibilty!

In closing, this is my little “Cause and Effect” rant. ๐Ÿ™‚ For every action, there is a reaction. If there were only pcs and no smartphones, people would not be texting and driving with one. Why? Because pcs are not mobile enough to be carried around by an individual. A smartphone has the ability to accept a broadband signal and be mobile. This is what makes it convenient. However, since the internet is so massive in it’s design, it is abused by people. Not by roads, or even vehicles.

Most people admit, that they need their smartphone. But when does personal need, cross the line of public safety? And as with intoxicated drivers, texting while driving is an impaired driver. It is not allowed by most, if not all traffic laws. An impaired driver is a distracted driver. A distracted driver is one who’s eyes are off the road. Unsafe roads do not create a distracted driver. However unsafe roads, require that a driver be undistracted enough, to make the necessary and responsible decisions to operate their vehicles safely.

I agree with you, and disagree with you as well. Some of what I’ve said, could be up for further debate. However, I just wanted to primarily, focus on the use and abuse of smartphones, and how it relates to the cause and effect paradigm. If smartphones were not manufactured, vehicle deaths would be dramatically lower. Not, by the presence of a smartphone being inside the vehicle, but how they are used by the driver. The driver’sr full attention, should be becoming a defensive driver.

We all know that smartphones aren’t going away. The next question we should ask is, “Am I responsible enough to use one?” That’s a question that an individual has to make. Not I.

      Good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

…and once again you completely ignore the risks the cars pose. I certainly agree that cars and phones are a deadly combination but there should not be the excessive need for car in developed places. What people wants is not always what they need, old people should not have to drive and most ‘normal’ people are not fit to it as well. We can deal with mobile usage, but thete should be a lot less drivers and more public transport. A mobile is a book, tv, friends and family, maps, your witness and a library, I think everyone should benefit from one… and they rarely kill ๐Ÿ˜‰

For one Masterplan, my original topic was smartphones, and how the abuse of smartphones are dangerous while driving. This topic alone, was open for debate/discussion. As of now, no one has come forth, to challenge my comments regarding distracted driving.

I completely read your comment regarding road safety. While it was generally outside the topic I wanted to discuss, I responded to it anyway. By stating that I ignored it, is simply not true. Please go back and reread it. I believe I covered it fairly well. I backed up my statements with facts, in relationship to being a responsible vehicle owner, defensive driver and how governments are bankrupted, due to austerity. For example, not having the funds to repair/construct safe roads due to austerity, can lead to road safety problems.

But there’s two things that I want to bring up here Masterplan…

I believe it’s obvious, that you understood my original comment regarding smartphone abuse. You uploaded a short video with an older man and a younger one sitting at a table, with the younger man having a hard time keeping his eyes off his smartphone. Not only did it assure me that you understood my original comment, but this video supported it as well. If your intent was to challenge my original statement, I haven’t seen it as of yet.

Again, you keep referring back to road safety. Again, I responded to it accordingly. I also linked the shorter video to the longer six minute music video, in relation to how driver distraction, can lead to a major road accident. This in itself, supported my beliefs regarding smartphone abuse.

Finally, I’ve noticed how you keep referring to road safety problems, without solving the problems to begin with. Your opinion is well understood. However, and opinion to a symptom of a problem, doesn’t solve the problem.

        …and it never will

For example, if you want to solve gun violence, one may want to look at economic, social or healthcare inequality. As opposed to buying more guns.

Again, your statement of me ignoring your comment regarding road safety, cannot be further from the truth. I responded to it, with some solutions to the problem. As well as linking road problems to distracted driving, using smartphones and other devices/behavior.

        In closing…

Your six minute video is centered around people dying in an accident. If your thesis implies that road conditions are the cause of most fatal accidents, then you are wrong. Driver error, due to speeding, intoxicated driving and distracted driving, are the leading cause of such accidents. Being a responsible vehicle owner, can keep your vehicle safe, while driving over these unsafe roads as well. I CLEARLY, HAVE POINTED THIS OUT SEVERAL TIMES!

If you choose to not own a vehicle for any reason, that is your choice. However, bad road conditions, or construction of roads in places where there shouldn’t be any, is open for another discussion. Again, I think I’ve responded to your concern with good solutions to the problems, based on facts. I also linked my concern about smartphone abuse/distraction to your road safety concerns, requiring personal responsibility.

Unsafe roads aren’t going away anytime soon. Unfortunately, if personal responsibility continues to fall by the wayside, both road safety and smartphone abuse, will continue to rear it’s ugly head for many years to come.

I’m a problem solver Masterplan. I’m conditioned to read and understand other’s comments. If I don’t understand one’s comment, then I simply ask them. I offer my opinion to solving such problems, based on the facts. Again, it’s called “Cause and Effect.” Effect being the symptom, while the cause, is understanding the problem that created the symptom to begin with.

It’s easier for a population to go through a state of denial regarding a problem, as opposed to tackling the problem to begin with. This requires critical thinking.

Unsafe roads aren’t going away anytime soon, unless people take a more proactive approach to solving the problem. Dealing with it’s symptoms day in and day out, isn’t going to get anything accomplished.

Unsafe roads/ road conditions require a driver to be proactive, in slowing down and not being distracted by their smartphones. It doesn’t make the roads any more safe, but there will be far less fatal accidents. This covers my original topic regarding smartphone abuse, and your topic as well.

…however, being “reactive,” simply brings up the problem again and again, without a solution

Please remember, denial has never moved a country forward, in relation to solving any problem. It only separates us…

At some time you’ll have to flush the toilet after taking a dump. If not, you’ll separate yourself from your family.

…can you draw a parallel here Masterplan?

Again, I’ve offered solutions to not only my concern, but you’re concern as well. I interlinked the two very well, because my solution, solves BOTH problems.

I hate ongoing symptoms. But then again, I despise being “reactive” as well.

        Good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

didnt watch the vids cos im listening to Porno Grind (anal floss is boss) its groove laden… anyway

i just wanted to say that i have an irrational fear of car accidents annd generally public transport crashes and things going wrong, because the truth is things do go wrong, yet for the economy belief is injected into the system one way or another for commuters to believe that if you think everythin is rosy then bad things dont happen. lmao…. this is just not the case , look at india when all those religious motherfuckers think theyre gonna be fine end up running someone over…

the doctors argument would be that watching videos about crashes and accidents will give you the fear, but its just fucking reality.

fuck the system i hate believing in shit that isnt true . just try me,

Iโ€™ve had old people driving towards me on the wrong side of the road, young drivers pulling out in front of me without warning, lemmings walking out in front of me and drunken Polish drivers stationary and passed out on a motorway right in front of my path and I have miraculously avoided them all.

The truth is that you need to have fighter pilot reflexes to avoid most crashes.

Stating โ€œslow downโ€ is not much help in preventing most crashes then, it only helps to survive them because most crashes are unpredictable and random for the most part.

Most people exceed the speed limit by very little, including myself.

The wonderful British police however have fined me for going 46mph in a 40 zone and for going 57mph in a 50 zone before. All the while never actually investigating or solving any real crimes such as burglary etc.

Drivers are mere cash cows in Britain then and targeted to boost the police, council and government coffers.

Excessive speed absolutely does kill but most drivers do not break the speed limit to that degree.

Most road collisions and deaths then are the result of idiots performing idiotic manoeuvres under idiotic circumstances. There is not much a sensible driver can do then to avoid these circumstances other than to act accordingly and with haste.

@empty-soul agree with you 100%. Over here in France they recently reduced the national speed limit from 90kmh to 80.. Obviously it wasn’t the folks driving at 90kmh causing the majority of the accidents, it was the wankers driving at 120 who continue to do so since the limit has been reduced. Also the old drunken Agriculteurs with baguette crumbs obscuring their vision (they only drive at 30kmh into incoming traffic)

Regarding: The “Think UK Safety Ad”, with the little broken-bones girl.

This one is pretty recent – last five years I would say – and I do remember that it did have a relatively profound effect on me. It was pretty brutal, but without that hard-hitting brutality – would I [& others] have taken as much notice?

If the answer is “no” , then I recon that the Ad/PublicInfoFilm did its job.

I believe I have mention to you previously I previously worked for one of London’s boroughs parking department in minor capacity. Indeed I agree with you it is a money grabbing scheme… but, at least resources are directed back at traffic. Back in Brazoo private companies from friends of the government are allowed to write this money down as profit, the wonders of capitalism ๐Ÿ˜› Services everywhere outside of developed countries are appalling, but indeed Britain is no heaven. My brother had his car crushed because he was away when his road tax expired… in days! As a cyclist I feel quite safe… and never got killed. Not great quality but this one stuck with me although there have been better ones here. Something about the size of that car coming over the fence in comparison to the child and the screaming toddler is chilling to me.

More recently, this one gave me the willies since one of my biggest fears is being trapped in a sinking car! Excuse the cringey man-shaming, I suppose it is supposed to be aimed at young male drivers, who are statistically more dangerous on the roads here.

The first video hit home, a friend who was drunk driving crossed the center line and hit a couple on their way home from an auction. All three died, the couple on the scene, and my friend after he got to the hospital. He never regained consciousness. The really sad part was the couple he killed were also friends, related to him by marriage, and they had a grown son with Downs Syndrome who lived with them. He lost both his parents, his caregivers, his whole world. We all were almost thankful that my friend died, I know it sounds horrible, but he could’ve never been the same after that, to know he killed them, and destroyed that family in an instant. He wasn’t a bad person, but he did a horrible, unforgivable action, and knowing what he’d done would’ve been his hell. I miss him still, but I miss them too, and I see their family and think of that terrible night. I feel shame when I think of all the times I drove while inebriated, and lucky I never hurt myself or anyone else. I never did anything smart while shitfaced.

Hi @illegalsmile55 , strange how my point was to make people feel bad, but I guess it’s for a greater good. All Around Sad when you factor in the kids parents, family, and all of his friends that knew him well, and that he was not like that, but that this was simply just an isolated case, that ended-up turning-out bad for all the parties involved. Thank you @thedre. I have the only survivor of the crash, a little Chihuahua who somehow lived through it, then ran away from the scene only to be found the next morning at my boyfriend’s apt., that was close to the accident. He found his way there through all that mess, the road was completely shut down for hours. He stayed on that porch all night, next to a Rennai heater exhaust in March, 30ยฐ outside. I don’t know how he made it. He’s laying here next to me right now, 15 years old and not a tooth in his head; he has diabetes too, two shots a day. It’s going to kill me when he goes, I love him so much ๐Ÿ™ I’ve had him for 9 years now, he’s such an awesome dog.

And we honestly believe that if it was not for your constant love, care, and affection ,, that he would have lost his life way before he lost his last tooth, lol. But it depends they say on how Comfortable Your Lap Is, lol, How Many Times A Day you softly pet, and talk to him, along with how Happy he is, and how well taken care of they are. Cause some have been recorded to live up to 20, or even 21 years old eating only very wet, watered down food, as they too had no teeth.

Do you mind me asking what the little Pooches name is Lisa? cause my Wife, & I would love to know. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, it is…I’ve been thinking of him all morning since writing that, even though it was ten years ago. Everyone gave him shit about driving drunk, but like most alcoholics he thought it couldn’t happen to him and that he was a good driver even while intoxicated. Truly selfish, and while I do miss him, I’m angry at him. In fact, I just went to the local drugstore, the people that died have a daughter who works there and she rang me up. Merry Fucking xmas. I’m reminded of it a lot, and it’s a tiny town I live in…everybody knows everybody. My poor boyfriend at the time, he was devastated by the accident, but also angry at his brother. He went to the other people’s funeral, he was the only one in his family to do so, that took some huge balls; their funeral was the day before his brothers. He felt guilt about what his brother did, he was his family’s keeper. Still is.

Hi @karmen40, since my cheating girlfriend was lawfully kicked out of her my main interest lays in receiving naked pics of my female BG friends… Unfortunately it doesn’t happen very often. Most are married, are not even women, or have some sense, but it happens sometimes ๐Ÿ˜›

Car accidents are not my hobby… I guess I have a strong like for the educational side of BG. Prepare people for the worse yet hope they always use that knowledge to bring good… like karate. ๐Ÿ˜› But I’m no Sensei… Just a word in here, and to some a friend… and I love to share videos that interest me. I’ts wonderful to have great feedback, since my humor sucks and I heard I maybe slowing things down for humans in other devices. Do anyone hates me?? (apart from all religious members) :/

I just watched all of these. Some of them are very funny. Some brutal. But all do reflect the carnage of pointless, avoidable, road traffic accidents. One person just kept coming back to me.
Way back, just when the 1970s were dragging their sorry arse cheeks into the 1980s, here in Bonnie Scotland in a wee west coast town, I had left school about 6 months. So had a few of my pals. I met one… Momo on King Street in Ayr one day after work. He pulled in beside me on the pavement, he was driving his moped. We chatted briefly. We both played in bands and had worked together packing shelves for a few years in a supermarket in Ayr. It paid for guitar strings, Vox AC30s and plectrums as well as essential 7″ singles. He was a fan of Magazine who we’d been to see together. He played bass and his wee band were getting some respectable attention in Ayrshire and had clinched a support slot for a good Glasgow Band up in Glasgow. That was it.
Next day the tea lady at work told me that a young lad had been killed in a Road Traffic Accident near Minishant. It was Momo. Momo was dead. Nothing to do with him… a driver had hit him head-on overtaking another car. Momo was on a wee Moped. No chance.
All those years since then… all those daft bands, great gigs, women, shags, nights out, highs, lows, bleak times and great times. Jobs, flats (American=apartments), success, failure, travel, holidays, parties. He simply had none of them. His Mum was left with endless grief and the drunk driver lost his license and job. For a couple of beers.
Nearly forty years on, probably no-one is left on this Earth but his sister and a few old pals, like me, who might remember him from time-to-time. This is for you Momo (you know why I picked this song eh Momo?).

Everybody at BG. Drive safe this time of year. Don’t drink and drive. Watch out for other idiots. I’m going to go and drink some red wine and dig out a cassette of the last gig my band did with Momo’s band in Nov 1979. I shall probably get very drunk.

They not suppose to be funny my Lord :P… but I see it did touch you some how. Indeed we all lost someone to traffic but bikes are indeed a champion. Cheers too Momo, bad choice to ride a moped… you get exposed like nothing else on earth, and friends and family continue to do so. I wish there was a god to protect them… The end of the years is a great time to remember those no longer with us, and they should remember us to remember those among us, not to join them. Thank you My Lord, great song ๐Ÿ™‚

These last three videos were superb MP, and supports the message I was trying to send…

I remember way back before electricity, (the days I took my driving test at the age of sixteen) we were required to watch a twenty minute film called “Ohio State Patrol.” To sum it up, it involved the State Highway Patrol, responding to major road accidents in Ohio. And believe it or not, it equated to the gore that we all see here. (uncut/unedited) And as you have already mentioned, it was to raise awareness, and discourage the use of distracted driving. I hope these videos are widely distributed. Not only on cable television, but on the internet as well. As we all hate seeing ads let’s say on Youtube for example, I think these short videos would serve a useful purpose, in educating the public on the misuse of smartphones. I’ll be the last one, to promote forcing anything on the general public. However, if it involves personal and public safety, then I’m all for it. (unlike Big Brother monitoring us for our own good, to keep us safe) Drunk driving laws changed drastically in the late 70’s/early 80’s, when a mother lost her twelve year old daughter to a drunk driver. After a short time, awareness began to increase, when the public became more educated over the dangers of drunk driving.

Distracted driving is impaired driving. No one should have to die over a tweet/text.

Thanks for finally coming @pickmynose123 , as a conversation with you brought the idea to create this post. The videos you mention refers to smartphone use… I’m glad you like it ๐Ÿ™‚ but indeed I’m not familiar with how often they are played… but most of them are quite good, and all seems to be government initiative. I’m with you that corporations are guided by the devil and I have no hopes for them… but I can’t blame phones for accidents… I blame cars, and especially motorbikes. There are plenty of safer alternative public transportation methods that are not implemented because of the wishes of private corporations who fuck with the government. I don’t like the government, but I have hopes for it. I don’t mind the bigbrother… I have a 17 yo girl. I like cameras everywhere, I just wish the laws were sensible and not as impossible to follow… as those of holy books. I think of the greater good… where we no longer condemn the innocent and crimes are properly punished. I guess I’m talking about utopia… there is little I can do about and I do nothing about it… but I don’t own a car ๐Ÿ˜›

Thanks for these great adverts @lady-lexis , I notice DOI stands for the road authority in Ireland but it’s not clear what it is. What I also noticed is that the best commercials seems to come from Britain and Ireland… small places when compared with the expansion of cars but a very good example for all follow ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, these Northern Irish adverts were made by the DOE (Department of the Environment), the department has since been sub-divided so road safety promotion is done by Department for Infrastructure now but it’s all under the umbrella of DOE. That’s totally boring, but you did ask ๐Ÿ˜€

They definitely do hit the ‘short, sharp shock’ element in their adverts, which does prove very effective. I’d personally be in favour of gorier adverts but there’s only so much you can get past the censors, I suppose!

Indeed there are even more good ads from them. There is no gore in the next one and is a bit longer… still it looks nice,

I love your avatar, it would help if you were french ๐Ÿ˜›

        @illegalsmile55

I remember crossing a big US city on Christmas and there was absolutely no one anywhere… like a ghost city. Plenty of people here but I will be lonely until I can get a dog ๐Ÿ˜› It’s so unfair… even homeless people have them. Santa didn’t brought me my gift ๐Ÿ™
Thanks for not spoiling the fun ๐Ÿ™‚
