Knee Replacement Surgery Photos

Knee Replacement Surgery Photos

A lesser quality set of photos of a knee replacement surgery on an elderly person. I’m not a surgeon, but from the photos it looks as though they were trying to get under the knee cap to fix something there. Admirable skill on behalf of the surgeons.

  1. this doesn’t look like a knee replacement surgery. Note the pale appearance of the tissues over the knee, that isn’t normal. also note the small black holes on the lateral side of the femoral condyle. Those look like K-wire or pin entry points, this leads me to believe that the knee was immobilized prior to surgery. The last photo shows somewhat hemorrhagic tissue, I’m guessing this is a case of septic arthritis or osteomyelitis and the procedure is not a knee replacement but rather a debridement.

PS. The skin looks like that because of the iodofilm covering, its a type of aseptic cover used in surgeries.
