Kansas City Police responded to what sounded like a routine fender bender call and indeed, it was just an accident involving a car running into a tree with no casualties, but after their arrival, the driver pulled out a gun and started shooting at the officers. Two separate cruisers responded to the call and by providing backup to each other, killed the shooter, ultimately leaving the big question of “why exactly was he shooting at them” forever unanswered.
The incident happened on September 6, 2009 in Isler Park in south Kansas City. The shooter was identified as 36 year old Exae Chavez-Gutierrez.
