Man Attempts Suicide by Jumping Off Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Turkey

You know how they say that suicidal jumpers start regretting the decision to jump the moment the freefall starts? The man from this video is a testament to it cause he survived the initial fall, but died from sustained injuries later. He admitted in the hospital that he regretted jumping which he realized before hitting the water

A 37 year old man attempted suicide by jumping off 105 meter high Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge over the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul and miraculously survived. He jumped because he was distraught over the divorce with his (ex)wife and drove with his truck onto the bridge to jump. Passer-bys and police talked to him for two hours to stop him from jumping. He stripped himself down to his underpants and then jumped.

  1. I reckon the members of the public that talked to him for 2 hours don’t regret the fact that he jumped, nor the countless drivers stuck in traffic behind him, so he shouldn’t have been too hard on himself.

  2. Was it his underwear or a bathing trunks? It seems he did not want his clothes to get wet. My bet is he was just going for a swim and they tried to dissuade him from doing it since obviously it must be against the law to wash more than once a month in those Countries.

  3. I get the feeling that jumpers almost get peer pressured into jumping when the crowds start coming regardless if the crowd is trying to talk them out of it. The whole ?Well I?m already out here, people will think I?m a phony if I don?t jump.?
