Two Helicopters Collide Mid Air During Filming of French Reality Show in Argentina

10 people died when two helicopters collided and crashed during the filming of a French reality show Dropped in rugged Quebrada del Yeso and El Condado areas of La Rioja province, close to the Andes mountains in Argentina.

Among the dead are three French sports personalities – 57 year old yachtswoman Florence Arthaud, 25 year old Olympic swimmer Camille Muffat, and 28 year old Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine. Five French members of the Adventure Line Productions (ALP) filming crew, and two Argentinean pilots also perished.

Dropped is a French TV survival show that airs on TF1. The premise of the show is to helicopter “drop” famous athletes into an uninhabited, remote area, and film their attempts to survive.

    1. Yes they did cancel the show. Families would have a hard time watching this. I understand…At the same time, they spent so much money, for this show. What a waste…
Yes, it was a show about survival. Talk about irony…

  1. They should rename the show “Crash and Burn” and each week have a different mode of transport for the celebs. I can think of some celebs I would nominate for the show, starting with Justin Beaber!

          1. Well now that it’s verified, I would like to call dibs on your old Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues whenever you feel they are cluttering up your home. Then I will have issues, too. I’m not going to change my name to that, though. I am already confused enough for today by the beheaded Iraqi Cop post before this one. 😀

  2. There was a arcade hellicoppter game that gave a choice to fly true to life chopper controls or as close as $0.50 UD gonna get the little shits. I fuck’n never forgot that experience choppers are hard to fly. Reality-shows are stupid. -951-

  3. Pilot error but he paid with his life and that of everyone else who was on board. But the pilots are of course told to do these risky manoeuvres for the shows ratings.
Might get a lot more now if ever shown again but doubt it.

  4. This reminds me of when Vic Morrow and those two children died filming Twilight Zone: The Movie.

One of my favorite stories was remade from the TV series in that. It’s called “Kick the Can”. If you have never heard of it, check it out. 🙂
